Non-Destructive Testing Methods

Radiographic Testing (RT) The main principle of radiographic testing is to use rays emitted from a radiation source to penetrate the weld and expose the film. The image of the weld defect will then be displayed on the film.
Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Compared to radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing has certain advantages, such as high sensitivity, low cost, short cycle, high efficiency, and most importantly, no harm to the human body. However, ultrasonic testing also has some drawbacks, such as less intuitive display of defects and higher technical and experience requirements for inspectors.
Penetrant Testing (PT) The main principle of penetrant testing is to apply penetrant liquid containing pigments or fluorescent powders to the surface of the weld to be inspected, allowing it to penetrate into surface-opening defects. After cleaning off the excess penetrant liquid and drying, a developer is applied to observe the defect traces.
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) Both magnetic particle testing and penetrant testing are methods for inspecting surface quality of welds and are mainly used to check surface and near-surface defects.
