Service Introduction
Microstructural evaluation refers to the observation of the structure of a metal specimen's ground surface or its replica, or a thin film made by appropriate methods, under an optical microscope or an electron microscope after the specimen has been treated with appropriate methods such as etching.
Microstructural evaluation includes: free cementite, pearlite in low-carbon deformed steel, banded structure, and Widmanstätten structure.
1. The magnification for evaluating free cementite and pearlite is 400× (allowing for 360~450X): The magnification for evaluating banded structure and Widmanstätten structure is 100× (allowing for 95~110X).
2. The standard field of view diameter is 80mm.
3. Evaluation is conducted by comparing with corresponding standard rating diagrams.
4. The two surface layers approximately 10% deep of the plate thickness are not inspected.
5. When grading, the highest grade in each field of view on the ground surface should be selected for evaluation.
6. The evaluation result is expressed in grades, with grade characteristics between adjacent two grades, and semi-grades can be attached if necessary, along with series letters if required. For example, 1A, 3B.
